LINCOLN PARK — An early morning collision Tuesday left a bicyclist dead after he was struck by traffic trying to cross an exit ramp to Interstate 75.

Shortly after 6 a.m., investigators reported that Terrance Haynes, a Detroit resident, was trying to cross the ramp to northbound Dix-Toledo Road when he was struck by a 2005 Chevy pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Wyandotte man.

Investigators from the Michigan State Police Metro South Post’s crash reconstruction unit are investigating.

Haynes was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine cause of death. The driver of the pickup truck was not reported as having any injuries, nor were drugs or alcohol believed to be a factor.
