DEARBORN – A man who allegedly drove a truck filled with illegal fireworks to the Islamic Center of America in January will remain at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ann Arbor until he is deemed fit for trial.
California resident Roger Stockham, 63, was found incompetent for trial by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow Aug. 22.
Court Clerk Mark Ulatowski said the court will receive updates every 90 days on Stockham’s competency for a period of 18 months. If he is found incompetent after that duration, he will be committed to a mental health facility through the Wayne County Probate Court.
According to published reports, Stockham, who has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, was arrested Jan. 24 after the manager of J.S. Fields Pub & Grill, Joe Nahas, told officers that earlier that day, Stockham came in and hint ed about his intended actions.
He told Nahas he was a member of an Indonesian Mujahadeen, an Arabic term for “holy warriors.” According to published reports, Stockham converted to Islam after the Vietnam War.
Stockham is facing charges of possession of bombs with unlawful intent and making a false report or threat of terrorism.
