Now that the first few weeks of the 2011 high school football season have been underway, Dearborn’s three public prep teams will get down to some serious business on the gridiron.

Dearborn, Edsel Ford and Fordson soon will be playing each other. The schedule makers have it documented and this year it will be the month of September — football showdown — in the hometown of Henry Ford.

“Who’s the best team within the city this season? Unless the local squads should beat up on each other — somewhat unlikely — one of the hometown 11 will come out on top.

The Pioneers look like they may have the inside track to be the better team of the three. However, these annual cross-town rivalries can be upsets in the making. Especially when all of the teams also are members of the Blue Division of the Western Wayne Athletic Conference.

Before this month comes to an end, followers, fans, alumni and students will have the answer to “Who’s the best?”

Dearborn plays at Edsel Ford on Sept. 16. Next, comes Fordson at Dearborn on Sept. 23. The final week has Edsel Ford traveling over to the east side, to meet the Tractors, on Sept. 30. That amounts to plenty of local grid action coming your way in a relatively short period of time.
