DEARBORN – Fifty-three children, ages 12 and under, caught nearly 55 fish during the Rotary Club of Dearborn’s Fishing Derby Saturday at Dearborn Homecoming.

This was the seventh year that the Rotary Club has organized and sponsored the event in a reservoir adjacent to the Rouge River and Ford Field. Fishing supplies were provided by Eppinger Manufacturing.

“The poles and bait are free,” said Rotarian Merritt Robertson, event chair. “It’s a fun activity for families and for our Rotarians.”

The longest fish caught this year was 14 inches long with several ranging from 7 to 11 inches. Prizes are awarded for the longest and most fish caught in three different age groups.
