For the second year, Patti Dancik of Fidelity Bank and I co-chair the YWCA of Western Wayne County’s Women of Achievement Luncheon. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this event honoring outstanding women in the region.
A holiday boutique will showcase 20 vendors during the event held Friday, Dec. 2 at The Henry. This year, Barabara McQuade, U.S. Attorney, will serve as the keynote speaker and Beth Chappell, CEO, of the distinguished Detroit Economic Club will be honored as Woman of the Year. We also will recognize outstanding women in areas of law, leadership, business and others.
If there is an outstanding woman in your life, please consider nominating her for one of these awards. Nomination forms are available online at www.ywca-wwc.org and will be accepted through Nov. 1.
Sponsorships are available and tickets for the luncheon are just $50. Proceeds from this event will help carry out the mission and programming of the YWCA, empowering women and eliminating racism.
In addition, we are looking for several volunteers to help with a variety of initiatives that will make a significant impact on women and children at risk. If you have just one hour a month, we would love to talk with you. A simple phone call to (313) 561-4110 could make a huge difference in another’s life.
