Detroit native and Grammy Award-winning music producer Don Was (right) participated in a public question-and-answer session at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Sept. 26. The event, which was sponsored by the university’s College of Arts, Sciences and Letters Cultural Events program, was moderated by jazz musician Marion Hayden (left) who also lectures at the university, and UM-D Associate Provost Ismael Ahmed. Was, who founded the band Was (Not Was) in 1979, shared stories about the music industry and artists he’s worked with, including the Rolling Stones, John Mayer and Bonnie Raitt.
