DEARBORN – An Ann Arbor resident was sentenced to five years probation Oct. 27 after she was convicted of setting fire to a house Sept. 26, 2009 in the 5000 block of Reuter.

Mona Fawaz, who owned the house, was found guilty after a six-day trial that started Oct. 7 and included 22 witnesses.

Fawaz was sentenced by Third Circuit Court Judge Thomas Jackson.

The blaze was contained in the building’s basement. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion and released.

She was arraigned in November 2010 at 19th District Court on charges of Arson of a Dwelling, Arson of Insured Property and two counts of Insurance Fraud.
