Bedbug scare over at library

TAYLOR — It’s business as usual at the Taylor Public Library, 12303 Pardee, after last weekend’s closure due to bedbugs.

A library patron using the computer lab Oct. 21, discovered a quarter-inch long bug on a chair after reportedly being bitten.
Library officials notified city authorities and closed the facility over the weekend, during which time a crew from Orkin Pest Control treated the library and prior to Monday’s re-opening brought a dog in to clear the area.

A sweep of the library cleared the facility. A parks and recreation spokesman reported that the bedbugs were contained to the computer room without further infestation. About 100 bedbugs were reportedly found during the extermination. The library will now have monthly inspections to ensure that no more bedbugs are in the building.
