Diabetes education seminar Thurs.

November 4, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN – Great Lakes Medical Supply and American Diabetes Association will host a free, hour-long educational seminar at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

Attendees will take part in Diabetes Bingo, an educational game focusing on learning about diabetes in a fun-filled format. Attendees will be engaged by combining a question-and-answer format with the traditional bingo game.

During Diabetes Bingo, a certified diabetes educator will lead four rounds, each covering a specific topic: general diabetes overview, foot care and exercise, nutrition and portion size, and testing tips and product information.

“Participation in our educational programs will give those attending the knowledge to better manage their diabetes and help reduce the risk of complications in the future,” GLMS President Sean Mahone said. “This emphasizes our dedication to improving the quality of care and health outcomes of people with diabetes.”

To register for the seminar, call the American Diabetes Association at 888-342-2383, Ext. 6697 or email [email protected]
