City’s 2011 loose leaf pickup ends Friday

November 26, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN – The city’s leaf pickup program ends Dec.16.

Residents may continue to put their leaves curbside in 32-gallon containers marked “Yard Waste” or in paper landscape bags on their trash days.

Yard waste stickers to mark containers are available at City Hall. Paper yard waste bags do not need stickers.

Leaves in plastic bags or in cardboard boxes will not be picked up.

Alternative method
In addition, collection of loose leaves raked into the streets is scheduled to continue until Dec. 2, depending on the weather. Leaves will be picked up on Public Service/trash days during non-recycling weeks.

Crews might not be able to pick up leaves from an entire Public Service Day district in one day and will return during the next non-recycling week to start where they left off until Dec. 2.

For a weekly leaf collection schedule, call the Leaf Hotline at 313-943-2444.
