To raise awareness about school bullying, students from high schools across Michigan produce a series of skits portraying high school students who killed themselves after facing excessive bulling, or “bullycide.” To prepare for their roles, the actors interviewed the victims’ families and friends to learn more about them and performed as the students during the skits. Directed by Michigan-based Trust Theater Ensemble artistic director Lori Thompson, the project is based on the book, “Bullycide in America,” written by mothers of high school students who committed suicide. The cast performed twice at Dearborn High School Dec. 16, at 8 a.m. and noon.
