DEARBORN — Henry Ford Community College will present the “Big Band & Chicago” concert at 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Michael A. Guido Theater in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, located at 15801 Michigan Ave.
The concert will feature HFCC’s internationally acclaimed Henry Ford Big Band, as well as Midnight Blue, HFCC’s top vocal jazz ensemble. The Big Band will perform big band hits made famous by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, and Glen Miller, as well as big band arrangements of the rock group Chicago.
Midnight Blue, directed by HFCC vocal music director Kevin Dewey will sing with the Henry Ford Big Band and perform many well-known hits.
The groups are two of nine performing ensembles at HFCC. Some 250 musicians take part in HFCC performance groups each year and perform locally, nationally and internationally.
The concert is a prelude to HFCC’s annual President’s Collage Concert, which is Feb. 18 at the Ford Center, featuring all of HFCC’s vocalists and instrumentalists.
Tickets are $20 and available at the Ford Center box office or by calling (313) 943-2354. For more information about the concert or how to obtain group prices, e-mail Rick Goward at [email protected].
