Standing against domestic violence

The Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services hosted a gala against domestic violence at Byblos Banquet Hall, 7258 Chase Road, Jan. 20 called “Our Children, Our Future: Take A Stand!” At the event, attended by about 500, survivors recalled their experiences with domestic violence. During the event, ACCESS Domestic Violence Prevention Program Director Mona Farroukh (front row right) honored University of Michigan Lecturers’ Employee Organization President Bonnie Halloran (back row left), Third Circuit Court Judges Richard Halloran and Connie Marie Kelley, Mayor John O’Reilly Jr., and Third Circuit Court Judge and event keynote speaker Kathleen McCarthy (front row left). Richard Halloran was presented the Purple Rose Award, given for going above and beyond the call of duty in the fight against domestic violence at the local and national level.
