DEARBORN – Officers are investigating several attempted burglaries that occurred from Feb. 4 through 6 in the area of Cherry Hill Street, west of Outer Drive.
Dearborn Police Lt. Patricia Penman said the break-ins occurred at six houses in the area: in the 23000 block of Wilson, the 1800 block of Franklin, the 500 and 400 blocks of North York, the 900 block of Mayburn and the 700 block of Elizabeth.
Officers noticed a suspect while investigating the Wilson Street incident. After hearing glass breaking about four houses west, they saw a man walking north away from the house. After the officers identified themselves, he ran south near the 23000 block of Hollander. Officers lost sight of him on Wilson Street, east of Mildred Street, following a foot pursuit.
The suspect is described as a white or Middle Eastern man, between 18 and 25 years old and standing between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall with an average build. He had medium length black hair and was wearing a black jacket. Penman said there are no additional leads at press time, “just a lot of frustration.”
Officers are asking residents to remain vigilant and keep all windows and doors locked. Anyone with information abut the break-ins is asked to call the Dearborn Police tip line at 313-943-3012.
