Jeff Day, Curator of the Lincoln Park Historical Museum, 1335 Southfield, keeps the displays ready at the former Post Office building. Beginning at 7 p.m. March 7, authors Marty Bertera and Kim Crawford will discuss their book, “The 4th Michigan Infantry in the Civil War” (Michigan State University Press), with tales of Downriver troops in 19th Century combat. In preparation for special exhibits planned for 2012, the Lincoln Park Historical Society and Museum are asking residents to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America. Former Scouts and Lincoln Park residents are welcome to contribute memories or memorabilia. Also planned is a program tracing the area’s military history during this 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. For information on the Society, Museum and exhibits, call (313) 386-3137 or visit www.lphistorical.org.
