DEARBORN — Comedy, food, mini-spa services and shopping women-owned vendors are all part of an entertaining evening to benefit homeless animals in the care of the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Ladies Night Out takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Warren Valley Golf and Banquet Center, 26116 W. Warren Road in Dearborn Heights.
The event also pauses to salute charitable women who have touched the organization including Debbie Dingell, Danielle Car of WNIC-FM Fresh 100.3 and Sandy Kovach of WDZH-FM Smooth Jazz.
Denise Gutenschwager, also known as Evelyn Smallbladder, is the comedy headliner, delivering a routine that shares her sage views on surviving middle age gracefully.
The mini spa services (for an added cost) are provided by Salon Volume of Allen Park. And patrons can see and shop specialty vendors, take part in a silent auction and raffles, appetizers and a Mexican buffet provided by Del Taco of Dearborn Heights. Auction items up for bid include a ride on a Yankee Lady B-17 Bomber and a ride-along in a police cruiser.
“This evening focuses on women in a playful and grateful fashion, in keeping with so many of our supporters,” said Elaine Greene, executive director of Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter. “We hope to see old and new friends alike in a light-hearted gathering to support homeless animals.”
Tickets for this adults-only event are $40 in advance or $45 at the door. Pre-event tickets may be purchased online at http://www.dearbornanimals.org/events/ladies-night-out/ or at the Dearborn Animal Shelter, 2661 Greenfield.
