Hiring Our Heroes

The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to host Hiring Our Heroes” Employment Fair sponsored by Hero2Hired (H2H) and Ryder System Inc., scheduled from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, at 15801 Michigan Ave. This is a one-of-a-kind free hiring fair for employers and veteran/military spouse job seekers. Employers and veterans must pre-register for this free event by going to www.hoh.greatjob.net. Registration closes on April 3. Job seekers please bring along proof of military service. Network before the work day begins at the do-it-yourself-based TechShop. The collaborative effort invites innovators, from backyard tinkerers to software engineers, to come on in and invent the next must-have in automotive technology.

A membership-based open-access concept started in 2006, TechShop (www.techshop.ws) offers creative minds of all kinds affordable access to space, tools, and machinery so they can dream up, design and develop prototypes of their latest inventions. To date, TechShop has locations in California and North Carolina, with more than 800 total members. Ford Land and Tech Shop invite you to a Dearborn Chamber Eye Opener to see this exciting location and concept.

The event features expo booths and celebrates the milestone anniversaries of Dearborn’s premier businesses. This year we honor Henry Ford Medical Center-Fairlane/Ford Road with the Business of the Year Award; Genevieve Vang, owner of Bangkok 96 Restaurant, will receive the Business Leader of the Year Award; and The Glass Academy will be presented with the Small Business of the Year Award.
