The annual Mutt Strut & Pet Expo drew about 1,000 people during the weekend of May 12 to 13 at Ford Field in Dearborn. The event featured pet demonstrations, contests, shopping, food, and various dog-agility activities. At top, A dog jumps into a pool during the Ultimate Air Dogs game, where dogs jump for distance, an exercise that tested the dogs agility and speed. Second from top, Huron Township resident Marty Hoot (left) attended the event with her girlfriend and her girlfriend’s two dogs, a black Lab and shepherd yellow Lab mix. Hoot said she decided to “strut” with her girlfriend and dogs as a way to socialize the dogs and help out a good cause. Third from top, Dozens of dogs dressed up in outfits ranging from ballerinas to aviators take to the streets of Dearborn with their owners in tow. At bottom, Dearborn resident and Dearborn Animal Shelter Volunteer Elizabeth Frizzell works a dog-kissing booth and attended the event with a shelter dog named Twinkle, a pitbull mix. “I like hanging out with the dogs and trying to get them adopted,” Frizzell said, adding that Twinkle is sweet and a really good kisser.
