May 19, 2012 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN – Eleven new public sculptures have been placed in 11 Dearborn locations as part of the community’s Art in Public Places Midwest Sculpture 2012-2013 Initiative. A sculpture titled “Large Graceful Dancer” remains from the previous year’s exhibit bringing the total number in Dearborn to 12.

The initiative, in its fourth year, is funded through the Dearborn Community Fund with additional support provided by the East and West Dearborn downtown development authorities.

For May, “Large Graceful Dancer,” sculpted by James Havens of Woodville, Ohio, is at the west entrance to the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. Made of welded stainless steel, the sculpture stands 11.5 feet high and approximately 5.5 feet wide and is priced at $20,000.
