DEARBORN — A 1-year-old girl is recovering from a fall out of a second-story window.

About 8:30 p.m. May 21, in the 2700 block of Amazon, the girl crawled out of the screenless window that was open about six inches and fell about 20 feet onto a concrete driveway, according to published reports.

Dearborn Police Lt. Patti Penman said doctors initially diagnosed the child, whose name was not released, with a broken femur.

Penman said at press time she was not sure what the girl’s current condition is.

“Protective services was looking into the case and it did not appear to be an abuse issue,” Penman said. “If it is not a criminal case we don’t follow up afterwards. We’ve ruled out foul play. It is just an unfortunate incident.”

It is unknown if the girl is still in the hospital. Police did not release what hospital the girl was admitted to.
