Thieves reported to act as repairmen are suspected to be targeting several other senior citizens who had their valuables stolen in Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Detroit and Troy.

Several unidentified men still are on the loose after stealing an elderly woman’s valuables in Dearborn Heights.

According to police reports, the unnamed, elderly woman heard a knock on the door about 2:45 p.m. May 28 in the 8000 block of Winston and as she opened it, the suspect said “We are here to do work on your house,” and pushed his way past her.

The man is said to have made the woman fill a pan of water and led her outside to pour water in a hole he said he planned to dig in her backyard. When she became suspicious, she told the offender to leave and then observed another unidentified man exit the front door.

The offenders escaped in a black four-door vehicle, possibly a Hyundai. The men stole a safe that contained a savings bond and jewelry.

The thieves did not have weapons.

Dearborn Heights Police Officer Mark Parrinello said a multi-city effort is underway to look for the men, described to be all dark-skinned white men in their mid 30s or early 40s.
