DEARBORN — The 21st annual Mike Adray Memorial Golf Tournament held in May was the most successful ever, raising more than $84,000 to benefit scholarships for Henry Ford Community College students.
This golf tournament provides nearly 100 scholarships for local high school students seeking a college education. The tournament is the largest annual fund-raising event for the HFCC Foundation, bringing together community leaders, alumni and friends, organizations and companies for the support of students.
“The students who receive an HFCC scholarship are among the best and brightest, and represent a cross-section of graduates from the top 10 area high schools that send students to HFCC,” HFCC President Gail Mee said. “The tournament is a wonderful testament to the memory of Mike Adray and the Adray family, who have dedicated their lives to meeting the needs of the community.
“With the help of the Adray family and many others, HFCC is committed to helping students prepare for their future and providing them with the support to ensure academic and career success.”
Mee gave special credit to the major sponsors of the event: MemberFocus Community Credit Union, which served as the presenting sponsor for the third straight year; The Adray Foundation, which served as a benefactor sponsor; and Dykema Gossett PLLC, which served as the plantinum sponsor. Mee said the strong leadership of these organizations and their support of this event made it successful.
She also thanked all the sponsors and participants for their gifts and contributions.
Dr. Walter J. Talamonti, chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors, said that this year’s event was exceptional in many ways.
“The community support of this tournament was extraordinary to say the least,” he said. “We had perfect weather and the turnout clearly underscores the dedication of the community to our students.”
