HFCC 2012 financial aid priority deadline helps prevent de-registration

August 5, 2012 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN — Henry Ford Community College now employs a financial aid priority deadline to help protect students from the de-registration process where they are dropped or removed from class, and to ensure they receive financial aid in a timely manner. The priority deadline to apply for financial aid is Aug. 9.

The HFCC Office of Financial Aid must receive the 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid by the deadline to prevent de-registration. It takes three to five business days from the time students submit their FAFSA before the HFCC Office of Financial Aid receives the information electronically.

To begin the application process, go to www.fafsa.gov. HFCC’s federal school code is 002270.

In addition, students who are unable to apply for FAFSA before Aug. 9 still may register for fall classes; however, students must either set up a payment plan or pay tuition and fees in full to avoid the de-registration process.

If students complete the FAFSA after Aug. 9, there is no guarantee that they will not be de-registered. There also is no guarantee after the Aug. 9 deadline that financial aid will be awarded for use toward book purchases and tuition before the fall term begins Aug. 23.

For questions and concerns, contact the Office of Financial Aid at 313-845-9616 or via email at [email protected]
