The Paul Keller Quartet, Ben Janssen (left), Duncan McMillan, Sarah D’Angelo, and Paul Keller are set to perform on Wednesday, August 8 at the Taylor Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Summer Concert Series.
TAYLOR– The Taylor Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Summer Concert Series continues August 8.
Performing this week is the Paul Keller Quartet, featuring four outstanding Michigan-based jazz performers dedicated to entertaining and delighting audiences of all ages with their personalized brand of high-energy, top-shelf jazz and swing.
The group features Paul Keller on bass, Sarah D’Angelo on vocals and clarinet, Duncan McMillan on keyboard, and saxophonist Ben Jansson.
Their repertoire includes familiar and fun jazz tunes, well-known compositions from the giants of Jazz like Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk and more. When not performing in Michigan, Mr. Keller also travels the world performing with a myriad of jazz luminaries including Diana Krall, Russell Malone, Tamir Hendelman, Stanley Jordan, Scott Hamilton and Larry Vuckovich.
The group is the latest in a wide-ranging array of talent that has been performing at the Summer Concert Music in the Gardens, which features a variety of live music, musicians and artwork in the relaxing setting of the conservatory, located at 22314 Northline Road, just east of Pardee Road and the Heritage Park Petting Farm.
Live jazz and blues is performed from 6 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday. Tickets are $5. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome and encouraged, but outside food and beverages are not allowed. There will be cash bar with food and beverage service starting at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served by Crystal Gardens, and a hostess will deliver your order so you won’t miss a moment of the music.

• August 15 – The Dave Bennett Trio
• August 22 – The Sheila Landis Quartet
• August 29 – Summer Concert Series Finale, featuring two-time Grammy Award winning drummer Jerry McKenzie’s Just Jazz Trio, with Ray Tini on bass, Terry Lower on keyboard, Dave Tatrow on trumpet and sax legend George Benson. (Tickets are $15 for a special 3-hour engagement from 5-8 p.m. along with additional gourmet wines, beers, cheeses, and chocolates for purchase.)
In the event rain, a concert would be moved indoors to the Taylor Lanes bowling center “Back Bar” at 24800 Eureka Road, one mile south of Northline and a half-mile west of Telegraph Road. A decision to move the concert would be made by 4 p.m. the day of the event. To confirm that a concert has been moved due to weather issues, call 1-888-383-4108.
