ALLEN PARK – Officers deployed a Taser on a 25-year-old resident who allegedly chased a vehicle with a rifle Monday.
About 2:30 a.m. that day, two men flagged down an officer in the 4000 block of Wall and told him an unknown man on foot was chasing them in their vehicle.
The man, who appeared to be intoxicated, then allegedly approached the officer yelling incoherently. A .30 caliber rifle was slung over his shoulder.
According to the report, the officer drew his gun and told the man to drop his gun. The suspect then unslung it and allegedly yelled “shoot me.”
The weapon fell to the ground and the officer kicked it to the curb. The man refused to get on the ground when ordered and continued to yell “shoot me!” at the officer.
The officer then warned the man before firing his Taser, the probes of which struck the man’s chest. The man fell to the ground and was later petitioned for hospitalization at Oakwood Hospital.
