HEIGHTS — A local woman was found dead Thursday in her house in the 7400 block of Nightingale, and her husband was scheduled for an arraignment for a possible connection with her death, police said.
Police are not releasing the victim or suspect’s names.
The suspect was scheduled for an arraignment Sunday or Monday — after press time — in 20th District Court.
The woman, in her 30s, was stabbed several times and died. Seipenko said the police may have the weapon.
“Our officers arrived and found the deceased female,” Police Capt. Jeff Seipenko said. “And we have recovered a knife.”
The woman’s 38-year-old husband called 911 about 5 p.m. from their house and told police a person broke into their house — while he was there — and stabbed his wife to death, Seipenko said.
During the investigation, Seipenko said, “there was evidence that was not consistent with (the husband’s) version of events,” and he was taken into custody.
The couple’s 16-year-old son was at Crestwood High School marching in the band during a football game when he learned about his mother’s death, according to a published report.
Seipenko said some kind of domestic violence incident occurred in the house; he did not say if that was the possible motive behind the stabbing. Seipenko added that the couple’s son is staying with family members as of press time.
The couple was going through a divorce, according to a published report.
