ALLEN PARK – Charges are not expected in connection to an alleged assault with a knife on Southfield Road Sept. 9.

According to a Police Department report, the Wayne County Prosecutors’ office declined to file charges stemming from the alleged assault, reported 8 a.m. Sept. 9 at Rite Aid, 15405 Southfield Road. Wayne County Prosecutors’ Office Spokeswoman Maria Miller did not return phone calls seeking comment by press time.

The alleged victim said the alleged assailant, a 33-year old Riverview man who is the fiance of his daughter, approached him with a large utility knife and demanded money and a Ford Escape which the man had been loaning the couple and had recently taken back.

The man said he yelled for someone to call police and the Riverview man ran across Southfield.

No knife was found, and the Riverview man, who told police he had merely approached the vehicle owner to get back personal items still inside the Escape, said he never had one.

He was arrested for felonious assault and for several outstanding warrants.
