WYANDOTTE – Marching bands from throughout the area will descend on Theodore Roosevelt High School Tuesday as its eighth annual Downriver Fanfare strikes up.

The show, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature RHS’s Marching Chiefs as well as 13 other bands from schools including Wilson Middle School, Taylor Kennedy, Taylor Truman, Gibraltor Carlson, Royal Oak, Lincoln Park, Woodhaven and more. Awards will be given to first, second and third place bands in categories ranging from Caption Awards to Best in Show.

Bands will be judged on music performance and effect, visual effects, marching and percussion.

This year’s contest will also feature an exhibition performance from Eastern Michigan University Eagle Marching Band, under the direction of Amy Knopps.

Tickets are $6 for students and seniors and $8 for adults.

Viewers can also watch the contest at home via a broadcast beginning at 5:30 p.m. that day on www.banddirector.com.
