LINCOLN PARK — A man prosecutors said barricaded himself and his family during an armed standoff with police will face eight felony counts in Wayne County Circuit Court.
John Joseph Christner was arraigned on information in Circuit Court Nov. 20. Charges include four counts of felonious assault, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, felony firearm and aggravated domestic assault.
Christner faces a life sentence if convicted of the eight charges.
Two counts against Christner of assault with intent to commit murder were dismissed, according to Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller. One felony count of assault with intent to commit murder stands, against a Lincoln Park police officer. Charges relating to the same crime against two unnamed women were dismissed.
Christner remained in custody on $1 million bond. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Dec. 19 before a jury trial in February 2013.
On Sept. 30 police responded to a reported domestic situation in the 1500 block of Cleophus shortly after shortly after 3 a.m.
Responding police said Christner had retreated inside the house after being seen outside armed with a long gun.
