ALLEN PARK — A new year will bring a new city attorney here.

City Attorney Chris Forsyth is planning to leave his post Jan. 1 after accepting a position near Traverse City, Emergency Financial Manager Joyce Parker said Wednesday.

She said a yet-to-be-determined lawyer from Flood Lanctot Connor Stablein PLLC will take over Forsyth’s position. The firm has been with the city since January 2011, when Todd Flood took on the role, from which he stepped down in August 2011.

Parker said the firm also will continue on as the city’s prosecutor for the 24th District Court.

“As of right now, they will until something changes,” she said, “but that hasn’t happened as of this point in time.”
