Jessica Chesney puts the final touches on the city’s top tree at the Southgate Veterans Memorial Library. The annual contest included 10 municipal departments trying for the most creative decorating work, with color as a focus for this year’s entries. Each department was assigned a color theme; honorable mentions went to the blue-tinged Police Department display and the Department of Public Services with cone-orange dominating the branches. The library’s multi-media, diverse platforms from hardcover books through DVDs and CDs earned top honors, announced during the city tree-lighting ceremony and Winter Wonderland weekend.
