MELVINDALE – Police here seized more than two pounds of marijuana from a house in the 18000 block of Henry Dec. 13.

Assisted by Downriver SWAT, the Melvindale Police Department executed a search warrant in the house about 4:30 p.m. that day after receiving numerous tips from residents about suspected drug trafficking there.

“We’ve had several complaints about guns and drug trafficking” in the house, Det. Lt. John Bajorek said. “We’ve had more than one complaint dating back to probably February.”

He said most of the complaints revolved around heavy foot traffic into the house, sometimes accompanied by guns.

“When people see that, they suspect some type of narcotic activity,” Bajorek said.

He said no one was home at the time and no one has yet been arrested, but one resident of the house is expected to be, pending a warrant.

Along with 2.5 pounds of suspected marijuana, officers also seized a large quantity of subscription pills, three firearms, and an undisclosed amount of money.

The incident is still under investigation.
