TRENTON – Oakwood Southshore Medical Center recently welcomed general surgeon Timothy Burandt, DO, FACOS, to its medical staff and the Downriver community.

A highly-regarded board-certified general surgeon, Burandt has 25 years of practice experience in Cheboygan and Chelsea. He received his medical education at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing a residency at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton.

“I am thrilled to be returning to my roots, while continuing a patient-focused surgical practice,” Burandt said. “As part of the medical staff of Oakwood Southshore Medical Center, I have the opportunity not only to work alongside well-respected colleagues, but also to be a part of Oakwood’s strong network of primary and specialty care physicians.”

Burandt is also an associate clinical professor at MSU and a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. He has particular interest in gallbladder and hernia surgery, in addition to a passion for training medical students, residents and surgeons.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Burandt,” said Edith Hughes, division president of Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. “He is an extremely well-qualified surgeon and educator. His extensive leadership experience on the local and national level will help make him a success with Oakwood.”
