ALLEN PARK – A bicyclist told police officers Jan. 17 that a car hit him on Pelham and Wick roads and then sped off.
Officers are looking for the driver of a 1990s-model silver Ford Escort with front end damage. The victim did not retrieve the license plate information from the vehicle.
Officers responded to the corner about 7:30 p.m. that day and saw the man sitting on the ground with a visible cut on his ear.
He told officers he was waiting to cross Pelham at a traffic light. The lights for south and northbound traffic turned red, so the man began to ride across the street. When he got halfway across, he said the vehicle struck him and then fled north on Pelham.
A witness told police the suspect vehicle turned onto Pelham from Wick, and struck the driver. He had no plate information and did not recall the gender of the driver.
The victim complained of shoulder pain and was treated for minor injuries by the Allen Park Fire Department, but declined further medical treatment.
