DEARBORN – The Henry Ford Community College men’s basketball team were tied for third in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II last week with a 3-1 record (9-5 overall), while the women’s team is tied for second with a 2-2 record (9-6 overall).
Fresh off their victory at the Gillette Classic in Kalamazoo last month, the men played their first home game of 2013 against Oakland Community College Jan. 16, preceded by the women. This was the first of three home dates this month.
Both teams played Alpena Community College Saturday in a special event called “Pack the Gym.”
HFCC plays WCCCD Wednesday in a special event called “The Hunger Games.” Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and children ages 7 to 12.
The men’s and women’s teams will partner with Gleaners Community Food Bank in Detroit in an effort to help eliminate hunger in area communities.
Spectators will receive $1 off admission if they bring canned goods to the game, or they can make a cash donation at the door.
Game times are 5:30 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men.
