Hail to the ‘King’

For their “day on” on Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, students at all of Allen Park Public Schools participated in activities honoring the civil rights leader with the theme “We shall overcome” followed by a district-wide afternoon assembly featuring professional speakers and student performances. Above, elementary students Mia Nightingale (left), Ryan Bernardo, Ian Wagner, Aidan Truba,Mikey Chacon, Braden Pattenaude, Jonah Gaggin and Jordan Smith perform a sign language routine during the event. Below, art student Dominick Nieves signs his name to a part of a mural the high school’s Art Department created for students to sign in recognition of their commitment to help change the world.
