ROMULUS – Public Service Credit Union helped 20 area families and the Detroit Fire Department over the holidays with more than $3,300 raised from employee contributions made on the company’s casual days.
PSCU’s employees raised money throughout the year by asking employees to contribute $5 each in order to wear jeans on casual days.
PSCU provided 20 families with holiday mean baskets and grocery store gift cards.
In addition, the credit union adopted three local families from the community who would otherwise not have celebrated Christmas. These families received food, clothing, toys and other basic supplies.
“These families may be the ones who experienced our goodwill, but our employees are the ones who truly have been blessed,” PSCU CEO Dean Trudeau said. “Whenever possible, it is our mission to serve the community that supports us. This is just one small way that we can give
back in keeping with the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.’”
With remaining money, employees donated $200 to the Detroit Fire Department, which was in need of help in the latter months of the year.
