TRENTON — Police and Wayne County Sheriff’s investigators closed part of Elizabeth Park for much of the morning Feb. 7 after the suspected suicide of a 60-year-old man.
Police Chief James Nardone said officers responded to the park shortly after 9 a.m. when a gunshot was reported. Officers with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department who were on duty in the park were first on the scene and handled the investigation.
Sheriff’s Department media spokesman Paul Bridges said that the name of the deceased had not been released publicly, and no motive was given. The Brownstown Township man reportedly shot himself once in the head.
