DFCU’s annual $10,000 check places the credit union at the $100,000 level of giving.

DEARBORN — How does a business make an impact in the community they serve?  For Dearborn Federal Credit Union, the answer comes with a 10-year, $100,000 partnership with the Dearborn Public Schools Education Foundation.

A decade ago the DFCU leadership team decided to make a strong commitment to education in the Dearborn community.  A milestone in that commitment was realized when DFCU Executive Vice President Theresa Fox, Financial Branch Manager Caryn Solferino and the rest of the DFCU team presented Dearborn Education Foundation Executive Director Eddie Fakhoury with their annual $10,000 check placing them at the $100,000 level of giving.

The ceremony took place during the foundation’s eighth annual Mardi Gras event held Feb. 12.

“It is our hope that others in the community will take notice of our confidence in this school district and that it will spark more of this type of investment with the DPSEF,” said Solferino, who also was chairperson of the Mardi Gras event.

The DPSEF was identified as DFCU’s premier partner because the institution’s officials wanted to ensure that their investment went directly to impact teachers and students. Over the years the partnership has help to fund projects and materials needed to enhance student learning.  DFCU also provides volunteers for DPSEF events, and its members serve on the DEF Board.

Fakhoury said he and the DPSEF Board understand the value of partnerships and are open to discussing the possibilities of partnering.  If individuals or businesses are interested to discuss the opportunities available, contact the DPSEF office by calling 313-827-8270 or emailing [email protected]

The DPSEF is a licensed 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides grants to fund technology, equipment and innovative programs for DPS.  DPSEF over the years has provided more than $1.5 million in funding back to the school district.
