SOUTHGATE — Wayne County “Health on Wheels” will stop at The Guidance Center, 13101 Allen Road, from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The collaborative mobile health convoy provides free health and dental screenings as well as health education services to Wayne County families during 2013.
Screenings are for county residents of all ages, and include testing for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, HIV and chronic diseases, among others. Some immunizations will be offered at certain locations. Referrals will be provided to individuals in need of follow-up services and testing.
The Wayne County Department of Public Health also will provide free flu shots for people ages 3 and up while supplies last.
The initiative features mobile health units from Wayne County, the city of Detroit, the Institute for Population Health, Garden City Hospital, Oakwood Healthcare System and other Wayne County health and community service providers. Partnering dental organizations include the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and Golden Dental.
The “Health on Wheels” convoy will make stops in a Wayne County neighborhood twice monthly to deliver free dental and health screenings, services and referrals. Future dates and locations will be announced.
