DEARBORN — The University of Michigan-Dearborn Women’s Resource Center will present a free screening of “The Invisible War” at 6 p.m. March 21 in 1500 Social Sciences Building on the UM-D campus, 4901 Evergreen.
The Academy Award-nominated documentary exposes sexual assault in the military. The filmmakers hope the film will help lead a national dialogue about the crime of
rape perpetrated on people who have pledged to serve their nation.
Tracing the stories of several young veterans, the film reveals the systemic cover-up of the crimes they have suffered and follows their struggles to rebuild their lives and careers. The film also features interviews with high-ranking military officials and members of Congress.
In addition to the Women’s Resource Center, the event is sponsored by UM-D Veterans Success Team, Student Veteran Association, Office for Student Engagement, Counseling and Disability Services, Women’s and Gender Studies, American Association of University
Women Student Organization, and American Association of University Women Dearborn branch.
A reception will begin at 5:15 p.m.
