Progress continued last week behind the former Lincoln Park Theatre as crews under the direction of Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency began foundation work for $11 million worth of construction and renovation. Projects manager John Carmody said that earth-moving equipment last week prepared the site for underground utilities while the interior of the theater building is being cleared of potentially hazardous materials before renovation. The two-building project — a new structure featuring 24 rental units along with a renovated theater with lofts and retail space — was on schedule, Carmody said. The agreement calls for the first rental units to be leased by the end of the year.
