ALLEN PARK — Two Oakwood-affiliated physician practices serving the Downriver community expanded their staffs recently through the addition of nurse practitioners.
Dawn McIntyre, adult nurse practitioner, has joined Dr. Ralph Raper at his Allen Park practice, and Michelle Dolson, nurse practitioner, has joined Dr. Abraham Slaim and his brother, Dr. John Slaim, at the Taylor Clinic.
McIntyre began seeing patients in the Allen Park office last month. McIntyre provides care to patients ages 12 and up. She received her bachelor degree in nursing from Grand Valley State University and her master’s from Wayne State University, where she completed the adult primary care nurse practitioner program. She has nearly 25 years of nursing experience as a registered nurse.
McIntyre joined Oakwood in 2000 as a registered nurse at Oakwood Healthcare Center – Wyandotte. Prior to coming to Oakwood, she worked at hospitals in Michigan, Illinois and New York. In addition to her work as a registered nurse, McIntyre has significant research experience in the areas of diabetes management and smoking cessation.
She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and the Michigan State Board of Nursing, and is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners and the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Dolson received her undergraduate education from Henry Ford Community College and the University of Phoenix in Livonia. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Wayne State University, where she specialized in adult primary care.
Dolson has 20 years of nursing experience in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She worked as a registered nurse at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital for 19 years, providing care to patients in the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit.
Most recently, Dolson worked as a nurse practitioner for a local cardiology group. In 2011, she participated in a medical mission to Kenya.
She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center, and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
