City signs to support Miss Michigan

April 14, 2013 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

WYANDOTTE — Residents here know that one of their own is the current Miss Michigan.

With a recent city council action, visitors to the city will be reminded too.

City councilors Monday approved a resolution to place signs on several entrances to the city stating “Home of 2013 Miss Michigan: Jaclyn Schultz.”

Schultz, 24, a Wyandotte native and 2006 graduate of Roosevelt High School, was crowned Miss Michigan in a September competition in Port Huron, beating out more than 100 competitors in her first pageant. She is set to go on to the 2013 Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas June 16.

She works as a media buyer at a Birmingham ad agency.

Signs also have been placed in the city to recognize the 2011 RHS Bears hockey team, who won the Division 2 state championship, the first state championship win in the school’s history.
