MELVINDALE – A 2-year-old girl is home after a hospital stay following injuries she suffered from falling out of the second-story window of a hotel room Monday.

Police Chief Steven Densmore said Thursday that the girl was released from Children’s Hospital of Michigan Wednesday after being treated for injuries suffered during the fall.

Firefighters arrived at Comfort Inn, 17600 Dix-Toledo, about 7 p.m. Monday after getting calls that the child had fallen from the window.

Densmore said the girl was conscious when firefighters arrived, but suffered “severe” injuries.

“I believe she was conscious,” he said. “I didn’t make the scene, but from what I was told, I believe she was.”

He said it is unclear how the girl fell from the window and could not release further details about her injury.
