Scott O’Riley, Allen Park Historical Museum commissioner, explains the history of this buggy to Marie Lacey’s second-grade class from Lindemann Elementary School. The class visited the museum as part of its community history studies. O’Riley said the buggy was built sometime in the 1890s and was made to be very light weight. Carriages like this one were used by doctors to visit this house once a month, he said, and the whip was used to scare away animals the horse would be afraid of.
