Students strolled out of Chormann Elementary School Thursday for the final time. Parents, teachers, former students and local and school officials applauded the last time the children filed out the door. The Chormann spirit — as seen on commemorative shirts, “Once a Comet … Always a Comet” —lingered in the air as the school marked the end of an era. Chormann, North Pointe Elementary and Gerisch Middle School closed their doors for good last week due to the district’s downsizing reconfiguration. Elsewhere in the district North Pointe let fly 300 balloons to mark the final day, and buried a time capsule on its grounds.
