DEARBORN – Henry Ford Community College and the Chair Academy’s Academy for Leadership and Development will host the Great Lakes 2013-14 Leadership Academy at HFCC.
The first week of the event takes place July 14 to 19; the second week of the academy takes place July 12 to 18, 2014.
The academy, which is a program of the Arizona-based Chair Academy, has worked with more than 6,000 leaders from colleges and universities worldwide in the past 17 years. This program assists educational leaders in addressing the large number of people retiring from their college or university, as well as develops talent management plans and “grow” future leaders.
Katherine Varchetto Grahl, associate dean of English and World Languages at HFCC, participated in the 2010 academy and said the program offers an important opportunity for organizational leaders to hone their leadership skills.
“This was an exceptional professional development experience for me,” Grahl said. “Interacting with the academy participants — administrative professionals and faculty from community colleges and technical schools from all over the U.S. and Canada — and working with the academy facilitators was an enriching and rewarding experience. Despite my 35 years of prior administrative and teaching experience in higher education, I gained new insights and developed new management strategies, skills, and techniques.”
The registration fee for the year-long program is $1,575 for both weeks of training. This fee includes 10 days of residential leadership training, components associated with an extensive yearlong practicum, coaching and mentoring component and online support services.
Additional food, facilities and administrative fees for both weeks will be determined. Lodging fees, if applicable, are additional.
