The Fordson football team opens its 2013 season at 7 p.m. Thursday against Macomb Dakota at Wayne State University’s Tom Adams Field as part of the Detroit Sports Commission Prep Kickoff Classic.

Tractors head coach Walker Zaban and his assistant coaches staff have been busy getting his squad ready for kickoff.

Fordson is once again expected to have another balanced team that has the ability to score points on offense and field a strong defense.

A victory in the opener would be a nice start. The Tractors are a member of the Western Wayne Athletic Conference Blue Division. Dearborn and Edsel Ford high schools also compete in the Blue Division.

Zaban is guardedly optimistic regarding the new season. He hopes that his team keeps any mistakes to a bare minimum when it meets Dakota.

Players who are being counted on to contribute this fall are a trio of Tractors. Hady Bandar is a running back who will be carrying the pigskin. Salim Makki and Hussein Kdouh are linemen who beef up the trenches.

Prep football gets underway this week as all of the local Dearborn/Downriver teams prepare themselves for another exciting season of high school football.
