LINCOLN PARK — Non-resident parents have until Wednesday to register their children for Lincoln Park Public Schools fall classes in grades 1 through 5 — and the district’s all-day kindergarten program.
In addition, parents in Lincoln Park and neighboring Allen Park and Melvindale can register for a free, full-day “Great Start Readiness” preschool program open to children who will turn 4 years old by Nov. 1 and meet other criteria.
For more information about that program and to register for kindergarten through grade 5, call 313-389-0213, Ext. 20321.
Applications also are available online through the district’s website, lincolnparkpublicschools.com.
“We have an outstanding staff and a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum,” Supt. Richard Rockwell said. “And we’re all dedicated to delivering the best possible education to every child every day.
“There are great things happening in our district. It’s our responsibility to tell our residents about what we have done and can do to help our students succeed.”
One of those successes was the district’s accreditation last year by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, which confers the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement accreditation seal.
All LPPS school buildings already were accredited by the NCA, but this additional award was a district-wide recognition of departmental systems, operations and methods that transcend individual buildings.
“But that’s only a part of the great things we’ve been doing in our schools,” Rockwell said, “and it’s our responsibility to tell those stories to the community we serve.”
